Xbee Explorer

The Xbee Explorer offered by Sparkfun is actually quite an amazing device. It is used for wireless communication over long range. It makes the Xbee module easier to use by managing the power regulation, the signal conditioning and it also adds the LED activity indicators. The board has been designed so it can be used conveniently with the FTDI basic boards and the Arduino boards for implementing wireless bootloading and also for USB configuration. The Arudino Xbee shield

The Xbee Shield is designed to simplify interfacing the Xbee with Arduino. The board works well with USB board or an Arduino Pro and it allows wireless communication with the Xbee module. It also works well with all the modules in the pro, standard, series 2.5 and series one modules. The Xbee’s serial pins are connected through the SPDT switch which will allow selection of connection using digital pins 2 or 3 and UART pins for the Arduino. The power is taken through 5v pin of Arduino and is regulated on board before it is supplied to Xbee. Level shifting is also taken care of by the shield. The board will include LEDs for indicating activity and power on shield.
The main features of the Xbee shield includes direct mount facility on Arduino, DOUT and DIN pins which can be connected to the D2, D3 or UART pins. Level shifting and power regulation features are included along with appropriate prototyping holes. There is also a reset button included on the board.

Xbee wire antenna

This is quite a popular Xbee module which takes the basis of zigbee and puts it in a very easy to use command set. The module allows a simple and reliable communication between the systems, computers, microcontrollers and everything with a serial port. Multi point and point to point are supported quite well. These can be coupled with a USB explorer or a regulated explorer for use.
