Business executives have confirmed the effectiveness of using smartphones in guaranteeing that personnel on the field and on mobile are easily reached. They have admitted that all the five top Smartphone brands have features that serve their intentions of constantly being in touch with employees who are outside the offices and transacting businesses with clients or persuading others to deal with them. The executives consider the ease of communicating with personnel if they are just staying in the office. However, if the company is particularly involved in sales and services, sending the employees outside is a standard practice. The smartphones allow instant connectivity and renders remote management possible.

Field employees, on their part, say that they have been using smartphones not as devices for texting but for mobile email. Their bosses usually send messages longer than what can be accommodated by the standard text messaging system. There are instances also when digital files may have to be sent instantly. Smartphones have made all these possible because, with ‘push mail’ technology emails can be received through it, as well as digital files created by word processors. Other push services may also be set up for easier remote personnel management, such as task lists, desktop calendars, and address books.

The Windows Mobile is considered by the business executives as the simplest mobile internet device to operate. Its main edge over other brands is its compatibility with the more recent Windows operating systems, as well as other software created by Microsoft. Executives, however, admit that the current Windows Mobile platforms are already about to become outdated even as the newer version is still in the preparatory stage. Although Microsoft and Apple are the computer world’s fiercest rivals, the latter’s iPhone supports Microsoft’s ActiveSync. Therefore, it is also able to perform push email and other mobile office tasks. Apple is about to release its newer version, the iPhone 4, in Australia within the month.

Nokia has its E71, E71, and E75, which also have the capabilities of smartphones. These also support Exchange accounts and some other Microsoft application software. The operation of Google’s Android 2.0 is capable of mobile synchronization of Microsoft Exchange applications too. There are smartphones that uses Android as OS, such as Motorola’s Dext and Backflip. The Blackberry is considered as the most expensive among smartphones. It distinguishes itself from others with its use of exclusive server software. However, with its Enterprise Server Express launched in March, Blackberry users can access servers that run on Microsoft Exchange.
