T-Mobile Insurance Numbers Explained

Amidst the many cases when subscribers fail to see the importance of knowing and memorizing their insurance numbers, T-Mobile executives came out with a clear explanation of its necessity.  T-Mobile said that there are instances when subscribers making claims for insurance benefits, such as phone replacements, may be required to enter certain insurance numbers.  There are basically two set of numbers that will be required; the phone’s number and the claim ID number.  These are asked from the subscriber for the purpose of increasing the level of security for the insurance claim and for the subscriber’s information as well.  T-Mobile executives admit that without these precautionary steps, the entire online claims system can be vulnerable to scams and hacking.

As required by Asurion, the insurance firm behind T-Mobile’s protection plan, the claimant may be asked to present proofs of identification if necessary.  This often happens when the claim is actually made over the counter. The valid IDs that may be accepted are government-issued ones, such as drivers’ licenses, passports, visa, and military ID.  Students may also use their school ID, if the academic institution has been recognized by government education officials.  All these information may be required along with the insurance numbers that the subscriber claimant must already have received from the time that the mobile phone was bought.

T-Mobile’s insurance policies are managed by Asurion, a well established company engaged in providing technology protection services.  Most of its large clients belong to the telecom industry, whether these service providers or mobile phone manufacturers.  To date, the company boasts of having more than 90 million policy holders all over the world.  According to T-Mobile, what made them decide on partnering with Asurion is the guarantee that it can replace lost, stolen, or damaged devices in just a matter of 24 hours.  T-Mobile subscribers who have expressed their approval of their network’s insurance coverage are actually appreciative also of Asurion’s services.

According to T-Mobile representatives, subscribers who need to immediately process claims or who have inquiries regarding their insurance policies can have two options.  They may go through the process provided by T-Mobile, which is either online or by calling the phone number of its support staff.  They may also contact Asurion directly at 866-268-7221 or go their website.  T-Mobile, however, reminds the subscribers to be ready to supply their mobile phone number and claim number when required.  For stolen mobile phones, subscribers must first go to the police and report the incident.  A police report number should be provided by the authorities to the victim.  This number will also be asked by Asurion when the claim is prompted by theft.  This is Asurion’s method of ensuring that the reported theft is true.  The insurance firm will verify it with the police.
