Sprint Subscribers Grateful for Insurance Coverage

by Ava on August 6, 2010

Sprint subscribers from across the country have expressed gratitude towards the telecommunications giant for the insurance coverage it provides.  Executives of the said company released statements to the public that they have experienced an increase of subscription and significant decrease of subscription cuts in the past four months since they introduced improvements on the insurance policy.  In March of this year, Sprint announced that it is lifting timeframe limits to the application of insurance coverage for its subscribers.  Before, subscribers have applied for insurance within one month after they have purchased their mobile phones and opened subscription with Sprint.  The new policy allows subscribers to apply for insurance long after they have bought their units.

According to Sprint executives, the move to lift the limits imposed on insurance application is in response to the need of protecting its subscribers and their mobile phones.  In recent years, there has been a marked increase in the theft of cell phones and smartphones.  Authorities explain that this is due to the fact that today’s mobile phones have become very expensive yet marketable.  The ease in which these gadgets can be stolen and the proliferation of shops and individuals engaged in fencing has encouraged small petty thieves.  In the face of this phenomenon, individual users and even the mobile phone manufacturers have seen the necessity of insurance coverage.

Both the Sprint executives and the mobile phone manufacturers, especially those producing smartphones have acknowledged that another reason that raises apprehensions about buying their product offerings is the question of durability.  Although smartphone manufacturers have guaranteed their customers of the durability of their products, there are still skepticisms.  Consumers consider smartphones as expensive items and damaging it can be a waste of money.  However, with the introduction of insurance coverage for mobile phone units, mobile phone networks and smartphone manufacturers have hoped that such apprehensions will cease to exist.

The reaction of smartphone users and the general public to the insurance coverage has been very positive.  According to Sprint, it has actually received messages of thanks from its subscribers.  However, Sprint is still in the process of informing its subscribers of the many advantages of having insurance coverage for their units.  Although the number of subscribers whose phones are covered with insurance is gradually on the rise, the telecom’s key officials admit that there is still a significant quantity that opted not to be insured.  Sprint hopes that by constantly promoting its insurance coverage to its current and incoming subscribers, all units registered to it will be soon covered.  Many of the subscribers whose units are insured have admitted having experienced the benefits of the insurance coverage and they too have helped in encouraging others to follow suit.
