Personal computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and mobile phones all have one thing in common. They all have screens, but in varying sizes. And as we move further into the future, computer screens will continue to increase in number and availability, more likely to invade appliances that normally do not have screens today.
And it has been proven time and again that the screen size plays an important role in our decisions when choosing the computer devices or mobile phones that we want to purchase. In fact, aside from functionality, the screen size is the other thing that contributes to amplification of sales. Imagine what good can a laptop be if the screen size it was manufactured with is only four or five inches, as small as a smartphone’s. People want to see more, that is what they want.
Let us take a tour of the screen sizes of the most widely used electronic gadgets in the market. The modern garden variety mobile phone is designed to have a two-inch screen or thereabouts. And mobile phones with this screen size amounts to eighty percent of all the phones in circulation around the world. With its browsing features, smartphones on the other hand carry 3-5 to 4.3 inch screens. Since they are made to fit in the common pocket, they cannot go on any bigger than its maximum allowable size of 4.3 inches.
However, if the manufacturer decides to go beyond the 4.3 inch threshold, the gadget is now called an MID or a mobile internet device. The common description of a mobile internet device is a thingamabob that has a five to eight inch screen.
The e-readers are manufactured with screens measuring from four and a half inches to six inches. The Spring Design Alex reader though has two screens, a 4.6 inch screen for reading 3-books and a separate Android screen for surfing the internet.
Tablets like the Apple Ipad have screens ranging frpm seven inches to as huge as almost twelve inches. And the popular desktops can have monitors as massive as thirty inches. These varieties in screen dimensions provide the customers a wide array of choices in obtaining digital information or entertainment, whatever they prefer.
The screen has been perceived as the other major selling factor in electronic devices. After all, it is where we in actuality view the wonders of the specific device that we purchased. It is the component of any electronic device that enables us to see what we are searching for and the strength and power of the computer would be totally useless without a screen to translate its potency via something that can be seen and enjoyed.
Screens have encroached on many items that used to have no monitors at all. Take for instance the Sony Dash with its seven inch screen that gives you the time and plays internet radio at the same time. I will not be surprised to see refrigerators being developed to have screens which broadcast cooking shows.
