There was a time in the near past when many people were skeptic on the reality of e-commerce and its ability to generate true and consistent income for those who avail of its marketing opportunities. Well, currently e-commerce is a massive income-generating business. To prove, just last year, purchases made on the internet have attained a whopping one hundred thirty billion dollars and that spending is in the United States only. And now, online purchasing has an extended arm in the form of mobile commerce and now is the right time for business-minded people to join that fast-growing online business facet.

One of the major players and perhaps the most popular in the online purchasing facilitation field is PayPal and they have been growing dramatically huge over the past few years from twenty five million dollars in 2008 to one hundred forty one million dollars a year after, almost six hundred percent, and PayPal expects that amount to reach five hundred million dollars in mobile commerce alone where they have a consistent consumer population of five million.

Now these figures only show an itsy bitsy tiny slice of the whole mobile purchases cake. Online buying internationally through mobile phones is expected to amount to one hundred nineteen billion dollars until 2015. Billion. And according to Juniper Research, mobile spending will reach six hundred thirty billion by 2014. And that is the reason why many firms are now making their way into the mobile advertising world from POS (point of sale) to online shopping applications and improved internet access through their mobile phones, making the most of what mobile commerce offers in terms of market reach and of course sales.

However, the senior director of PayPal’s Merchant Services Bill Zielke intimates that there is little information as to how companies can enter the mobile marketing arena while there is ample assistance on how buyers and consumers can do easy purchasing using their mobile phones. And as time passes by, consumers are anticipating that their favored seller will sooner or later be available and accessible on their mobile phones, and this scenario has made it important for retailers to be able to make their presence in that market field.
