The Dell Mini 10 is a popular mobile Internet Netbook with a price starting of $480. If features a nice design, HD video acceleration, and high display resolution. Specifications include an Intel Atom N450 processor, 1 GB RAM, and a 250 GB 5,400 rpm hard drive. This is a great little laptop for movie watching, but a beta phase Flash update is required in order to stream video.
The available Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator and the 10-inch high resolution display make watching movies a pleasure. However, the HD chip only handles video playback, not 3D graphics. In addition, users will need to download the beta version of Flash 10.1 in order to watch streaming video from Web sites like Hulu. This is a solution, but a computer with HD video acceleration should not require use of the beta version of a third party software package to watch streaming video.
The design of the Mini 10 gives it a more durable and professional feel than previous versions. The keyboard layout is decent, but the touch pad is rather small. It makes scrolling difficult and the fact that the bottom corners of the touch pad serve as mouse buttons creates a less than ideal situation. Networking options include Ethernet and mobile Internet selections of Bluetooth, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, and optional mobile broadband. The standard connections come with this laptop and optional components include a TV tuner and GPS module.

Performance of the Intel 1.6 GHz Atom N450 processor is adequate for a Netbook. It does do a lot in improving the battery life from previous Netbooks that used the N270 processor. In general, Netbooks are suitable for surfing the Web, handling emails, and basic tasks but are not good for multitasking. They usually will not serve as an adequate replacement for a regular laptop or PC.
The Dell Mini 10 is a great little wireless Internet Netbook for movie watching, Internet, emailing, and doing everyday tasks. Included are a HD video accelerator, 1 GB RAM, a 1.6 GHz Atom processor, and a 250 GB hard drive. The design is nice but the touch pad is small and not always easy to use. Battery life is not an issue, but streaming video is because only a beta version of Flash software can be used. Depending on the purpose, consumers will either love this laptop or pass it by for a model with better video streaming capabilities.
