Spain’s largest mobile provider, Telefonica Espana, announced this week that they have named Yahoo! as their choice for search and associated search advertisements on the emocion network. Telefonica is solidly behind Yahoo! In 2007, they gave this U.S. company the go ahead to be the main search provider on their mobile systems in 15 other countries.
Yahoo!’s press information touts the company’s ability to provide up-to-date data and information on nearly every subject, with perennial mobile favorites like weather and news taking center stage. Mobile customers are increasingly looking for more intuitive search capabilities. For example, when seeking information about a specific movie, they also want to know where it is playing in their neighborhood. Yahoo! has worked to enhance this technology.
All of the features that the emocion portal currently provides for its customers will be seamlessly integrated into Yahoo! This includes favorite features among younger customers like ringtones, the newest games and wallpapers. On the corporate side, Yahoo! has an established record for bringing in advertising and purchasing revenues. In recent years, the company has concentrated on the creation of a mobile monetization application.
When it comes to blending technology with Internet mobile, the pairing of Telefonica and Yahoo! is a match made in techno-land. Telefonica has 268 million customers primarily in Europe and Latin America. It is a publicly traded company made up of one and half million shareholders. The company is traded on not only the Spanish stock market, but also the New York Stock Exchange and those in Lima, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, London and San Paulo.
