Sprints Cellular Network Increases

by Ava on July 1, 2010

Last year, Sprint beefed up its presence in the Gulf coast by investing almost two hundred fifty million dollars of cell sites and other enhancement to reign supreme in terms of connectivity on that side of the earth. Jazzy New Orleans got fifteen million worth of cell enhancement investments and South Texas got nine million dollars.  These areas have regular visitations by some of the worst hurricanes in the history of the United States.

And now, Hurricane Alex is on a warpath, breathing its lethal breath on the Gulf coast and the surrounding area, a place Sprint just turned into a browser’s paradise. And though seemingly destructive as it is at the moment, it is predicted to acquire more power before at sets to dry land and wreak havoc.

Now the cell sites may withstand the pressure of the hurricane but they will be useless even if left standing when the hurricane onslaught destroys the source of commercial power, or if not destroy, momentarily left gasping for enough power to supply everyone. Spring has always been in readiness for these kinds of natural calamities and similar catastrophic situations. They have massive numbers of back up generators and the chosen people who will operate them. And these personnel and equipment are spread into very strategic spots along the hurricane line.

Sprint is not a novice in these kinds cataclysmic situations and they have an impeccable history in leading in this specific field. Always ready for the next red alert, Sprint’s well-trained staff’s experience in these types of situations is still unmatched as of this writing. Manned with the Sprint ERT or Emergency Response Units, whose nucleus can be found minutes away by car from South Texas – the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Sprint is getting all set for the deployment of Cell Sites on Wheels or what is known as COWS and SatCOLTS which stands for Satellite Cell on Light Trucks. They are fired up to quickly provide wireless connectivity for Sprint subscribers especially in disaster-hit areas.

It would be de-stressing to know that the same Sprint Emergency Response Team is backed up by almost four thousand five hundred calamity or similar situation deployments and has made available wireless support for more than a thousand events which includes the much publicized Montcoal massacre in Fort Hood, Texas, the Hurricane Katrina, the 56th Presidential Inauguration, and Hurricane Rita.

And this Sprint fast response body is on call 24-hours a day seven days a week.
