Wireless broadband provider Clearwire Corporation also operates a 4G network. The company recently signed a wholesale agreement with broadband, voice, IT, and mobile applications provider Cbeyond. Under the terms of the agreement, Cbeyond will provide small businesses with bundled 4G wireless Internet services using the 4G mobile internet network from Clearwire.
No financial details were released regarding this partnership, which was announced on Wednesday. The service is expected to begin early in 2011 and will allow Cbeyond to provide mobile broadband capabilities to small businesses using the Clearwire 4G network. Cbeyond already has a small business product suite that includes mobile broadband and voice, but it does not contain 4G speeds.
Cbeyond caters to businesses with between five and 250 employees and offers its solutions in 14 major cities throughout the U.S. Clearwire is easily recognizable through its own 4G service brand, called CLEAR. The company also offers its 4G services through other large wholesaler brands. The partnership between these two companies allows each to take advantage of the strengths of the other, opening up new market possibilities.
It is common for many companies to provide their workers with mobile Internet laptops. Small businesses will now be able to reap the benefits of this partnership between Clearwire and Cbeyond. The bundling of 4G mobile broadband services will most likely save small businesses money when it comes to operating costs.
The 4G service offered by Clearwire features speeds up to ten times faster than 3G speeds. Some carriers equate it to swapping DSL Internet service for a high-speed cable modem. Peak download speeds with 4G are over 10 Mbps, while peak speeds with 3G usually do not exceed 3.1 Mbps. Upgrading to 4G will allow businesses to be more productive, something necessary in today’s fast-paced world.
