The smartphone wars seem to be heating up as the holiday season approaches. It seems like new phones are being rolled out weekly at this point and it is difficult to keep up, let alone distinguish one from the next. The more you want to do with the phone, the fewer phones there are to meet your needs. This sounds like it should be an issue but for those who have problems making decisions, it is a blessing.
Take, for example, 4G cellular service. There are a limited number of 4G phones because the service is currently only offered by Sprint. Doing smartphone comparisons of the best 4G phones limits the playing field. The Samsung Galaxy S Pro and the HTC EVO 4G are two android 4G smartphones that are considered the best.
Both phones have a 1GHz processor but the Galaxy S Pro runs on the company’s own QRM Cortex-A8 version, while the EVO 4G includes a Qualcomm Scorpion model. Both run Android 2.1, have 512 MB of memory and 1 GB storage. In terms of features, both possess an internal GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The Galaxy S Pro is compatible with Bluetooth version 3, a step up from the version 2.1 that runs on the EVO 4G.
Though both phones have a front facing camera, the EVO 4G’s is 8 megapixels, while the Galaxy S Pro has only a 5-megapixel camera. In terms of screen size, the Samsung phone has a 4-inch super AMOLED screen with 232 pixels per inch. The HTC device has a 4.3-inch transreflective TFT screen with 217 pixels per inch.
One item that seems to be mentioned most in smartphone reviews is the differences between the keyboards. The Galaxy S Pro has a physical QWERTY keyboard, where the EVO 4G only has the virtual version. It seems that not everyone enjoys a touch screen QWERTY for heavy typing.
