The MSI Wind U160 Netbook includes 1 GB RAM, a 250 GB hard drive, and an Intel Atom N450 processor for a price of approximately $400. That is not all it comes with, because it also performs well and has a long battery life. However, the battery is very cumbersome and the performance comes at a price nearly $100 more than comparable Netbooks.
The nicely designed Wind U160 includes a well-functioning keyboard but has a rather uncomfortable touch pad that is actually a series of raised dots contained in the wrist rest. The touch pad contains scroll points on the right top and bottom corners, rather than a scroll bar along the entire right side of the pad. This is kind of neat because users only need to hold their finger in the corner of the pad in order for the page to automatically scroll.
The 10.1-inch screen contains a standard resolution for most Notebooks. The Wind U160 has three USB ports, an SD card reader, and audio input/output jacks. To compliment this standard setup, there is Bluetooth and 802.11n mobile Internet. The most positive feature of this Netbook is its long battery life, lasting just over seven hours during video playback testing. This is very impressive for a six-cell battery but it comes with a tradeoff, that being the very large battery that sticks out from the back of the system.
The 1.66 GHz Atom N450 processor gives a bit better performance when doing some tasks on this Netbook versus its competition. However, users may not even notice this and, on the flip side, it sometimes performs slower when multitasking. The 1 GB of RAM and 250 GB hard drive are standard offerings for most Netbooks on the market.
The MSI Wind U160 wireless Internet laptop is a Netbook with a 10.1-inch screen, Bluetooth, Intel Atom N450 processor, 1 GB RAM, and a 250 GB hard drive. The included mobile broadband option in this attractive looking Netbook is 802.11n. The best features of the MSI Wind U160 are its good performance and its long battery life. The worst aspects are the huge battery and high price tag.
