In the quest for dominance in the wired battlefield, OSes like Android, Blackberry, iPhone, and Windows Mobile is beaten down by Nokia’s Symbian OS, according to the recent data for August compiled by Smaato, a mobile ad-service.
According the gathered data, users of Symbian-powered phones made by Nokia, were the ones most likely to click on ads. Next in line are the regular mobile “phones” with internet access. However, it was found out that iPhone users had average rating for their click rates while Android, Microsoft and Blackberry were way behind than their statistics in early January.
Smaato reported that the reason why Symbian and regular mobile phone users led the most number of ad-clicking rates is that rather than selling off ads, the company helped developers to pull ads from multiple ad networks to worldwide in real time. As a matter of fact, this strategy was way better than signing up for just a single account. Another reason also way the Symbian OS scored higher, as speculated by Harald Neidhardt, co-founder of Smaato, is because of the fact that click-through rate was affected by the displays or perhaps it was driven by incentives and coupons. Definitely, with a technique like this, users are motivated to click on ads because they can get something out from this.
He further said that the underlying reason why Android had fallen off from its high chair with the highest click-through rate in early January was that Android was new so users had more excitement to explore on the device after switching from a featured phone (a phone that is a non-smart phone even if it has a internet access). So, as early as January of this year, Android gained the most click-through rate when it came to ads posted.
Apparently, mobile apps and mobile websites had come into terms with the rough competition of the mobile race. Numbers showed that networks differed with the ability to offer mobile ads to mobile phone users. Only Smaato had 41% of the network with the most queried apps. The rest played around as low as 5% though it shared with the boomer networks internationally. Users really could tell where to get mobile phone apps among all the rising networks in the market.
