Mobile broadband from t-mobile
T-Mobile is one of the most widely used data plans in the US today and is competitively priced. The WebConnect data plan is the most widely used of its plan since it is available at $59.99 per month. There are also a few other mobile broadband plans which are offered by T-Mobile, email only plans as well as unlimited internet plans.
Also, like most other carriers T-Mobile too has a cap of 5 GB on almost all of its plans. Exceeding that limit would lead to fees and charges. Basically, a 5 GB plan would be good for those who do not really have to use the connection too often and are not going to use the plan for downloading songs or watching videos.
A single song of 3 minutes can take up to 4 MB for downloading so it wouldn’t really be practical to use a 5 GB plan for that.
Data card
T-Mobile offers a data card which is known as the WebConnect USB Laptop Stick which costs $49.99. Also, they are known to be frequently out of stock when it comes to their data card. There would be a fee of $35 for activating the services and another $200 fee for early termination of the contract if the service is cancelled with more than 180 days still left on the term.
If the contract is cancelled between 91 days to 180 days the fee charged would be $100 and then to $50 if it is cancelled within 90 days of the end of the contract term.

Exceeding the data cap
Like most other service providers, T-Mobile also imposes fees if the data usage exceeds the limit of 5 GB. The charge in this case is $0.20/MB. This actually comes down to a fee of $204.80/GB which is quite costly. However, it is still less than the fee charged by some of the other service providers.
The Smartphones
Most people today use the smartphones for accessing mobile broadband. T-Mobile has two data plans for their voice customers. There is unlimited internet along with email and 400 text messages which would cost $24.00 every month. Unlimited text messages along with unlimited email and internet would cost $34.00.
If you only want the data services and do not want to use the voice services on the smarphone, the charge is $39.99. However, it is not possible to use the smartphone as a tethered modem for T-Mobile. They do not really provide the software with the help of which this can be done.
Wi-Fi hotspots
There are more than 10,000 Wi-Fi hotspots for T-Mobile and the USB laptock stick and the smartphones can access the network through Wi-Fi. Also, the business and home wireless networks can be used through this service.
T-Mobile has a few good options for mobile broadband. There are a few good plans to choose from, even though the data cap is at 5 GB and the prices charged for exceeding the limit is quite high.
