Software giant, Microsoft is now trying to populate the iPhone App Store with friendly applications. This is not, however, a direct attempt to dominate Apple’s smartphone pride. It is, in fact, a move many observers believe as a step towards capturing a chunk of the ever-growing iPhone market without antagonizing Apple. There is obviously no reason for the Mac-makers to feel threatened. Microsoft’s software products have always been considered as very user-friendly. Because of this, it is able to maintain a hold on most computer users with its various PC application software and, most prominently, with its Windows operating systems. Apple can certainly see benefits from this move. With Microsoft’s user-friendliness in the iPhone, Apple expects more Windows fans to consider buying the advanced smartphones. Therefore, this phenomenon actually benefits many parties.
The Microsoft-made app that is becoming increasingly prominent in iPhones very recently is the Bing brand. Bing is fast gaining acceptance among many of the iPhone’s users. As a search engine, it is one application that has become a favorite of a growing number of individuals who use their smartphones as mobile internet devices. Aside from this, there are several other apps from Bing that is making waves. American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest has a web-radio application which Bing has introduced in partnership with nuTsie. This app is quite inexpensive, with a price below $2.00. However, as part of its marketing strategy, Bing is providing a free trial timeframe of two months for those who wish to see how effective this software is before buying it.
Bing’s partnership with nuTsie has produced other apps that iPhone users will surely love. The music apps particularly such as the Top 100s by year, the Pop 100, and the Classical 100 are expected to become staples in many iPhones. Among these, the Top 100s by Year is said to be bought most often. The songs in the list actually date back to the latter part of the 1940s until to today’s music. This makes the iPhone’s appeal transcends generations. According to a Bing resource person, making choices on what songs should be included in the top 100 depended on their undying popularity.
Aside from the music apps, which are usually the favorites of iPhone users, there are also others that can be used to kill time or to avoid being bored. Chicktionary, a popular word game, has been adapted to be played on the iPhone environment. There trivia apps for various media outfits such as that of Vanity Fair, ESPN, and Movie Madness. With Bing, watching movies and internet TV is also made possible. Bing powers apps for these which include iTV, Whrrl, and Flixster. It also powers the Conde Nast Traveler Gold List.
