Stores that provide self checkout counters assist customers in getting products with ease. However, lining up on qeueu is what irks most. Well, the new Apple app takes care of this particular issue.
Imagine this scene: Scan the product, purchase, pay through a credit card, and check it out from the counter without falling in line with the rest of the waiting customers. Appealing, ain't it? Now, this is the very gist of what is in store for you if you use the new Apple app which is now made available in the iTunes store just recently. The Boston-based AisleBuyer app allows customers to choose and read the details and reviews about the products via iPhone once it has been scanned through the camera.
The AisleBuyer app is tagged as the “world's first virtual shopping assistant and mobile self-checkout” because of the online service that it provides. In fact, this new app has put more value to online shopping by giving access to information that shows the best features and benefits of the stores, and the products as well. So instead of just buying things while based on the label, you get more information about a particular product including reviews and comments by other people who have used it.
Once downloaded, the app creates a meta “AisleBuyer” that uses the name of the store you are currently in. This eliminates confusion since there are many store partners using the app. At the same time, this app, utilizing GPS, will even assist you in locating the specific store where you can buy what you chose and even provides current deals and discounts of the store. But the revelation of it all is the iPhone camera that can scan any UPC barcodes and afterwards provide comprehensive information about the product, price listings, customers' reviews and star ratings from the store's website and this is automatically displayed on the phone's screen. Even reviews that are not approved by the store are shown as well. However, just like any other new item, the app has some workable flaws like in some items the scanner does not work and the buyers can see the reviews but cannot read them.
Just like any online shopping process, you have to add what you want to purchase on the virtual shopping cart on the phone. It automatically tallies all that you put in including the store's sales tax. The button “Checkout” should be clicked to finalize the transaction plus the enclosure of the billing options like the credit card information and billing address. When the customer has completed the process, a “digital receipt” will be displayed on the phone. All you have to do is show this “receipt” with a verification code before leaving the checkout counter. So, no matter how long is the queue, the cashier will hand over your purchase directly.
