With the release of the new iPad app under Time Warner Cable, has made others in the same line of business game thinking.Time Warner has come up with something that is touted to eventually change the landscape of viewing TV programs.
Conventionally, viewing TV shows have specific schedules and that is what the TV guide is all about. Shows have specific daily time slots and even day schedules. But now, with the iPad app, if you missed out on an episode of your favorite television program, or work got in the way of the sports game you have a bet on, or you did not see the news item everybody is talking about; the new Time Warner app will definitely keep you abreast on the things that you did not see real-time. Time Warner Cable has ventured on a special feature. How? Daily TV programs and schedules are set into the iPad data where you can have the daily show guide in it. With this daily guide, the iPad is linked with your TV on your wall, so when you click a program on your iPad, it will be played on the TV screen. Automatically, your iPad and TV are synched. So you think, what's the difference?
Competitors like Verizon FiOS and Comcast have the same feature but what sets the Time Warner app apart is that it can schedule the time when you want to record your TV show episode that you don't want to miss. This is what is called DVR scheduling. The iPad also allows viewers to see the recorded video in the device (unlike other program providers) and they can continue viewing it in their TV. To do this, you have to click on the “Record Now” button and schedule the recording time. By the time that you get home, you have an episode of your favorite TV program waiting for you. Presto! In addition, viewers can also manage what videos to record. Personal libraries for TV episodes and movies are also made available in the app. But what's great about this new Time Warner app is that this library is in sync with a search access so that when viewers type in a keyword of a favorite show or movie, they will be provided a list of related searches.
According to Time Warner CEO Glenn Britt, they [Time Warner Cable] is providing a one-of-a-kind experience to all their customers. They can have access to every possible content that they could imagine using their iPad and television. He also added that, “customers would like to get access to any content that they could imagine and be able to choose each content that they would like to experience”.
Definitely, with this feature from Time Warner's roster of new services provided, viewers have a way step higher in home entertainment.
