Touch screen, people would often say, when you are not typing on real pads or keyboard and that in itself is a measure of highly advanced technology. The same thing goes for our iPads and iPhones. Now you can easily go to your favorite coffee shop or book shop and sip on your favorite coffee while you email, read your business mails and send some replies without holding any device. All that you need to do is tap, swipe, and type on a flat area with the use of the projected light.
A small company in Cambridge, England, called Light Blue Optics, can take the credit for making any flat area as touch screen, giving you the freedom of doing all the things you can with a mobile device without having to hold one. Currently, this function is not yet out for consumers to use but it has established good funding to shrink down its parts.
What you can find now is a black box that has the size of a VHS cassette which has the capability to project an image that’s about 10 inch wide on any flat surface. That said image can be turned into touch screen with Light Touch and with help from a holographic laser projection and infrared sensor.
This type of projection has been around for some time now but this is mostly done only with huge images that are often projected from far away or it could be just one image such as a keyboard.
This has been revolutionized by Light Touch as it is able to project an image that you can interact on just a few inches off from the object.
This is also much more energy efficient compared to the iPad using only about one-tenth of the power consumption of the device for it to project the same images on a flat surface.
Light Blue Optics is aiming to come up with devices that can project much larger images on a flat surface and soon come up with devices that are much like USB sticks in size. The company is currently holding talks with mobile companies for them to embed the technology in their mobile devices. So in time when you use your iPad, you simply need to stand up your iPad on any surface and tap and/or read on any surface that the image has been projected.
