AutoCAD, and architectural design software has long been a Microsoft desktop exclusive in the past eighteen years. it has helped millions of interior designers, architects, civil engineers, landscapers, and other design enthusiasts in creating architecturally accepted very precise designs that can even show the intended finished product. AutoCAD has lorded it over all structural design software and the desktop has also lorded it over the Mac Apple computers and gadgets since AutoCAD is limited only to Microsoft users.
Until now. Autodesk, AutoCAD’s developer has finally decided to allow Mac users to share the benefits of this wondrous software. This puts the iPad as full-pledge productivity tool, not just a gadget for browsing and/or playing games. And since Apple has instituted a totally unique setup in all its gadgets, the AutoCAD Mac edition will be on multi-touch gesture from track pads and the ever inimitable Magic Mouse and if you want to sift through the designs, the interface would be just like the iTunes cover flow.
iPad users who avail of this new AutoCAD Mac edition software priced at a whopping three thousand nine hundred ninety five dollars will not have the same full workability and ultimate functionality like the AutoCAD desktop edition but will still provide very helpful features such as being able to share, review, and even edit their design files. The advantage of having the AutoCAD software in the iPad is that the files have now become very portable, being able to bring along a huge number of designs and plans in a tight tiny item, and this is very useful for presentations and reviewing and editing minor details while on the way to the presentation.
Mac has always been known to be a graphics and design computer and not having the AutoCAD in the past almost twenty years seemed like a strange scenario and now that it is made available for the Mac, mobile design and productivity has now reached a new level. According the Autodesk Platform Solutions and Emerging Business vice president Amar Hanspal: ”The new AutoCAD app makes designing more accessible for an ever-greater number of people so they can shape the world around them."
Desktop loyalists argues that that the iPad is not a true and a full function personal computer and it has less to offer when it comes to functionality as opposed to the PC. However, iPad aficionados maintain that the gadget is a mobile platform, hence having AutoCAD available will also make the software mobile and accessible to many.
