Lloyds Insurance How It Was iPad Charmed

by Ava on September 7, 2010

There are already quite a number of institutions that have been amazed at the ability of the iPad to simplify applications and that is the reason why it is being utilized by these institutions to their advantage. Take for instance schools which currently use the iPad (many thanks to the new app made available to the Apple world the AutoCAD) in teaching their students the basics of AutoCAD, which is now available on Apple. Instead of inventory pads, some huge warehouses now use the iPad to conduct their inventories because of the better interface and ease of use it provides.

And now, the insurance world has been added to the long list of organizations that have fell in love with the iPad and has planned to use the device to replace their conventional underwriting slips. Lloyds, one of the more famous insurers in the world, has set out to (with a broker) run a series of tests for the Apple gadget in their underwriting department. This test commences this month and it should determine whether the iPad would be a better choice for the insurance great. Of course, they already know most of the abilities of the iPad and that is the reason why they are running off a few tests to see the feasibility of the iPad in replacing some of their office paraphernalia.

Citing Lloyd’s as a distinguished place of business and a company that has been at a competitive pace since before, Toby Esser, CEO of Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford, said: “We firmly supports this exciting iPad pilot, as we believe utilizing portable technology will be a vital element in driving the future success of Lloyd’s…”.

The iPad is intended to be the carrier of documents pertinent to insurance underwriting and the series of tests is set to run until Christmas time where business is busy as usual and brokers are expected to join in the fray as time progresses on the test.

This bit of information is awesome news to iPad maker Apple, which for so long have tried to market the iPad as serious device, more than what it is hyped up to be – browser and game platform. This ascent of the iPad into the corporate world may start a dawn of iPad corporate users which will make the competition between the regular PC and Apple very interesting. So far, the desktop is still the undisputed king of the office equipment but this new development is something worth watching out for.
