iPad Not Threatened by entry of Android Tablets

Apple’s iPad is now facing serious competition with the introduction of android tablets manufactured by several other companies. Mobile internet device market observers said that the despite the competition though, iPad still has an edge when it comes to the variety of apps it supports. This observation has been confirmed by Apple executives themselves. According to the officials of the giant electronic gadget-maker, their competitors are trying seize a large part of iPad’s potential customer base by offering very low prices for their android tablets. However, they are still confident that this will not affect their sales much as people will still prefer using a device with more software applications than just the basic ones for internet connectivity.

In Berlin, where the IFA show was just recently held, both Samsung and Toshiba introduced to the European market their android tablets, which are the Galaxy Tab and the Folio 100 respectively. Meanwhile, in the United States, Archos just came up with five tablets which have 7-inch screens as the smallest. The bigger ones have screens as large as 10.1 inches. All these competitors though have admitted having no plans of ultimately gaining an upper-hand in the contest for more tablet users against the iPad. Even Archos, which has been expected by some sectors to seriously threaten Apple's own tablet, did not make any statements about such interests.

Archos’s larger tabs such as the models 43 and 70 are all equipped with multi-touch screens. Aside from this feature, these also have micro SD slots for additional memory storage capacity. These also have mini jacks for HDMI as well as front-facing cameras. Anchos said that they are planning to introduce soon video chat software for their android tablets that will be Skype compatible. Its five models that have just recently entered the gadget market are equipped with Wi-Fi capabilities. These, however, do not have features for 3G. Another thing that Archos boasts about its tabs is that these have much lighter weights than the iPad.

Despite all such features of the Archos and of the other android tablets from Samsung and Toshiba, iPad users are still more satisfied with the wider variety of apps available to them. Having been established in this market for a longer time, Apple already understands better the particular needs of its customer base. This fact is there advantage, allowing them to develop apps exclusive for the iPad’s use in partnership with other software companies. This is what boosts their confidence amidst the competition that has arisen.
