One of the world’s leading computer and communication gadgets maker has come out with a new 3G product as a solution to wireless internet service outages plaguing many networks nowadays. With its capabilities, the iPad 3G is also expected to serve its users better by providing longer and improved access to the internet. According to Apple executives, this mobile internet device will be largely dependent on the Wi-Fi, serving people who usually use the web for purposes of getting news updates or reading their emails.
However, even as Apple executives insist on the iPad 3G’s features, many in the mobile internet industry still have doubts about its over-all advantages. According to some skeptics, although it may serve the interest of the user, it may also contribute further to the further load increase of the internet service provider networks. Currently, the service providers have admitted experiencing difficulties due to mobile data overload. The overload is the result of having too many wireless internet users accessing the service at the same time and requesting large amounts of data too. This is has become a common experience among the larger global network operators. Operators in the United States are particularly being hit with serious network congestions.
Recommendations are being made in order for network congestions to be reduced. One of these is for the operators to use software that will compress the amount of data being sent on air. This technique is expected be advantageous to both the operator and the user. The network will significantly reduce the data load being addressed simultaneously while the user will have faster browsing speed. Apple iPad 3G is capable of running compression software which, according Apple officials will be beneficial to users and network operators.
There are more suggestions being presented that will alleviate the congestion problem of the network operators. However, these will require them to invest in upgrades in both hardware and software. These include setting up devices that will facilitate monitoring of the levels of data being transmitted according to time and location. Aside from hardware and software development, the network operators may also consider providing metered usage. Instead of being per time, this will be per data accessed.
