There is a sudden shift of smartphone buyers from the popular one to Android-powered ones, and the shift has gone over the sixty percent mark and the ascent started May this year, and that is according to ChangeWave.
And the most affected on this impulsive swing towards the purchase of Google Android smartphones is Research in Motion’s Blackberry series, which for some time dominated the smartphone sales scene. In the near past, almost all corporate IT users can be found with a Blackberry phone. And then, the warmth is now being absorbed by another smartphone series and the statistics is showing the truth in this.
A study involving one thousand six hundred company information technology users of smartphones show that back in August, Rapid in Motion’s Blackberry was still at the helm in sales getting a huge chunk at sixty six percent, and that number has already decreased by three percent since May. On the other hand, beginning at only three percent last November, Google Android-powered smartphones’ sales made a huge leap from only ten percent to a whopping sixteen percent at the cost of RIM Blackberry’s sales. To date, sixty percent more want the Android phones. The biggest beneficiaries of this buying switch are Motorola and HTC which are the most sought after Android phones there are in the market today. In the same study conducted by ChangeWave, twenty six percent said they are planning to purchase HTC phones, the most bought of which are the EVO 4G and the Droid Incredible, in the next quarter.
Another survey done by ComScore is showing the latest trends in smartphone purchases and the Android is slowly catching up now ranking third leaving behind Windows Mobile in the United States market. And Gartner, on a detached report, boldly predicted that Google Android phones will eventually surpass Blackberry and iOS sales and fall second only to Nokia’s Symbian in the coming months. Incidentally, a Nokia bigwig, in his last speech before retiring, referred to phones using the Android operating system as Finnish kids peeing on their pants to stay warm during winter.
The latest Android operating systems are what is making the phones adopt them and these include the Froyo version 2.2. The new Droid X is currently using the Android 2.2 and it is readily available for more phones.
Based on the same ChangeWave survey a while back, Windows Mobile, while lying in wait for Windows Phone 7 is losing considerably from ten percent to nine percent while the iPhone increased its sales form thirty percent to thirty one percent.
