Apple executives are now exuberant over information about the continuing success of their iOS. According to Net Applications, a firm that launches surveys and studies on issues related to the market on information technology as well as to the hardware involved in it, the iOS is just third when it comes to usage. Despite being in such a position though, what Apple executives find worth celebrating is the fact that the first two are actually PC-based operating systems and are, therefore, expected to be in such status as long as PCs remain to be the most commonly used means of accessing the internet and other information. Besides this, the second most preferred OS is the Mac, which is what the Apple PCs also use.
The iOS platform by Apple is currently being used in all its mobile internet devices. These include the iPhone, the iPad tablets, and the iPod touch gadgets. With all their iOS combined, their net web usage has reached 1.18 percent according to Net Applications. The said survey company also announced that web browsing for with Apple’s mobile internet devices has hit the 2.5 percent mark. Analysts have considered that the headway achieved by Apple is largely due to the introduction of its latest innovations such as the iPad and the iPhone 4. Ever since hitting the electronic gadget and computer shops, both of these gadgets have been constantly in demand by people who have seen the necessity and convenience of mobile internet access.
The iOS closest competition is actually not that close, a point that has been proven by the Net Applications study. The Android, which even Apple considers as the most threatening rival, is still far behind in terms of usage. So far, it has only registered 0.24 percent in web usage. This is despite the fact that more smartphones and devices have been brought to the market using the Google creation. Because of this, there are questions as how Android phone users really use their devices; raising the possibility that they are not employing their units for actually accessing the internet.
For PC-based OS and for desktop internet browsing, Microsoft is still in the lead. The Net Applications study confirms that Internet Explorer still has a 59.65 percent hold on the users. The rest are divided among Google and other browser developers. Windows, in general, remains quite strong among PC users, accounting for 91 percent despite the emergence of new OS and internet browsers.
