Cricket Communications had been introduced in the year 1999 and is mainly known as a wireless service provider but has recently made a move in the mobile broadband world. However, as of now their services are quite limited since they only provide their services in three cities, Santa Fe, Nashville and Albuquerque.

The main advantage of using Cricket wireless broadband services is that they are very well priced. There is no contract that the players have to sign up for and no cancellation fee to be paid.

Users do not even have to go through a credit check in order to get started with their services. However, the main drawback of Cricket services is that their service is only available in three cities and though they are planning to expand their services it might take some time. Also, users only have a choice of two modems for their use.

Cricket wireless broadband plans

Cricket only has one mobile broadband plan which costs users $40 every month. This plan allows the subscribers unlimited access to the internet but like most other broadband companies, it is limited to 5 GB per month. Users who are already using their wireless voice services get a discount of $5 every month.

Users who need help with their Cricket broadband services can contact the service provider through a toll free number during their working hours in order to speak to their customer service executives. There is also an automated customer service system which is available 24/7 through their toll free number.

Payment options

Users of Cricket mobile broadband services can make their payments in person at any of their retail locations, online, through telephone and they can pay by cash, check, debit card or credit card. if paying through credit card, users can also pre-authorize their payments. There is no contract to be signed by the users and no type of credit check that users have to go through in order to sign up for their services. Their transfer speed on an average is 400 to 700 kbps for downlink and 40 to 60 kbps for uplink.

Fees and charges

Users have to pay a one time fee of $25 for activation of the Cricket broadband services. There is no cancellation fee if you want to discontinue with their services. Roaming charges do not apply since Cricket only works in three cities where their network is available.

PC Cards and modems

Cricket broadband service provides two options to the users, one USB modem and one card which can be free for certain promotional schemes or can cost around $60. There are only two options available to users as of now.
