AT&T mobile broadband

AT&T mobile broadband is available at a cost of $60 for 5 GB data transfer which is quite similar to most other service providers. However, with AT&T there are still several other benefits since they offer much flexibility to the users in terms of their prices as well as their data plans.

AT&T also has better connectivity and speedy connections which works in its favor.

For most users a data cap of 5 GB would be quite adequate and hence it is also the most preferred plan for most users in the US today. For most people this plan turns out to be the most affordable. AT&T offers wireless modems, AirCards and Broadband cards to users which priced at $49.99 along with a 2 year contract.

There is an activation fee of $36 for the services. There is a fee of $175 for early termination of the contract. This fee would be reduced by $5 every month that the connection is used.

Data cap

There is a data cap of 5 GB like with most other service providers. Exceeding this usage limit would lead to additional charges which are in fact quite high. AT&T calculates their data in terms of kilobytes or KB. In 1 MB there are 1024 KB and there are 1024 MB again in one GB. What this means is that for using an extra MB there would be a cost of $0.49. This turns out to be $503.31 for 1 GB. This charge is quite a high amount when compared to the rest of the service provider. For this reason, it is very necessary for the users to think about the plan before they sign up for it.

Smartphones

Today most people use smartphones for mobile data and because of this most service providers also have a data plan which would allow this facility. For AT&T, the data plan is that of $30 every month which is separate from the price of the voice plan. There would not be a 5 GB limit applicable to the smartphone unless the phone is used as a tethered modem for the computer. For getting unlimited text messages there would be an additional cost of $20 every month. Users who need to use a lot of text messages would find the combined plan to be quite economic.

Wi-Fi

With all the AT&T mobile broadband plans, Wi-Fi connectivity is included. When the laptop or the computer is connected through Wi-Fi the speed would be twice as that of the broadband. Users can use it at any of the Wi-Fi hotspots and even at their office or home if it is available.

The best thing about using Wi-Fi is that the connections are faster than the mobile broadband. Also, another benefit is that the data usage would not be counted into the 5 GB limit for data so it is a great way to prevent any added expenses by exceeding the data limit. Despite the high charges for exceeding the limit, AT&T still has some of the best services for broadband users.
