Today Unicast TV services on handsets attract just 0.1% of mobile users - around 30 million in total. Far more users consume video clips and downloads, but this mostly takes the form of 1 minute experiences. However, in countries like Korea and Japan mobile TV is already approaching 30% penetration with usage rates of around 1 hour a day. How can we make that happen everywhere? Will the experience be the same across geographies? Should video on a handset be the same content that is seen on TV or different content? If not, then what should be the difference? Who should pay for mobile TV networks - broadcasters or cellular operators? And who should control them? If mobile video is used for 15 minutes at a time, 3 or 4 times a day, is there time for advertising? Or should advertising take another form? If so, what should that be?
